Mechanical Design Engineer
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will deal with all aspects of design relating to production, procurement, sub-contractors, service support and technical documentation.
You will have suitable experience or an HNC up to degree level, preferably apprenticeship trained. Some form of mechanical assembly, fitting and design experience. IT skills including 2D and 3D design software packages. You should also be methodical, can work alone or within a team. Be able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
You will produce and check mechanical drawings. Working with electrical design and software engineers you will ensure the mechanical design meets the necessary customer needs.
You will provide technical support for ABG production staff, sub contract/outsource partners, service department, service engineers and customers. You will produce part and assembly drawings to support the manufacturing and assembly processes.
You will communicate with our suppliers and purchasing department on product components. You will be required on occasions to travel to other ABG sites, customers and supplier sites when requested.

Key Responsibilities
- Process incoming orders in a timely fashion by creating bills of materials, 3D models and 2D drawings based on a customer spec.
- Meeting relevant mechanical requirements and design standards.
- Produce and check mechanical drawings.
- Review projects with electrical design and software engineers to ensure the mechanical design meets the necessary customer needs.
- Provide technical support for ABG mechanical staff.
- Carry out any necessary drawing modifications when required.
Key Skills
- HNC up to degree level is desirable but not essential
- Mechanical design experience
- Relevant 3D cad experience
- IT skills
- Work towards common goal of the business with stakeholders
