A B Graphic international are one of the leading global suppliers in the print and finishing industry. We have continued to grow and acquire new sites, develop our product range and software applications, throughout the challenges of the past few years.

We are a global manufacturer with sites in three countries, designing and building bespoke, complex, hi-tech modular machinery. The variety of our products and sites creates diversity in our processing tasks and a need for continuous improvement to achieve best practice whilst aligning processes and meeting legislative requirements.

This newly created Financial Accountant role requires extensive use of Microsoft excel at an advanced level, alongside our recently upgraded accounts software, Syspro 8, in order to manipulate and present data for all stakeholders at all levels.

It is essential to work with our management team to gain an understanding of our products and company dynamics to be able too collate and report to the board on machine turnover and the impact of current business challenges on machine gross margins.

You will be required to process, reconcile, and investigate standard expectations of management accounts with regards to P&L, prepayments, accruals, general ledger maintenance, stock reconciliation, monthly management accounts submission and bi-annual budgets. All tasks require a high level of accuracy with an analytical and proactive problem-solving approach.

Confidence to present data, explore and propose improvements is essential as this role will be expected to work closely with our board and senior management team.

Key Responsibilities

Monthly management accounts:

  • Detailing of machine gross margins, investigating variances to expectations and providing relevant commentary for board report
  • Review of P&L account transactions and creation of prepayments and accruals schedules and posting into the general ledger
  • Production of stock schedules, including interrogation of anomalous transactions and balances to ensure accuracy and process adherence
  • Review and cover for junior accountant’s month-end schedules
  • Compilation of the management accounts with relevant commentary for presentation to the Board
  • Compilation of bi-annual budgets with relevant commentary for the Board


  • Processing of foreign currency hedges and monitoring foreign currency cashflows
  • Syspro Champion role – working with the Syspro Champions team to further develop our ERP system
  • Bi-annual budgeting process including liaising with other departments
  • Proactively suggest system improvements and seek to identify avenues for improvement
  • Support or lead teams for project implementation to improve organisational processes either through enhanced output or more efficient methodology
  • Devising ad hoc reports for other members of the company as required


  • Being aware of potential areas of financial fraud and mitigating these risks
  • Responding to unanswered calls made to the Accounts phone line / main switchboard and respond or forward to relevant person as appropriate
  • Potential to assist the finance functions at group foreign subsidiaries and some foreign travel

Key Skills

  • Excellent with IT and Microsoft Office Tools (predominantly Excel)
  • Experience with Syspro ERP System (advantageous but not a requirement)
  • Data analytical skills
  • Understanding of risks of, and exposure to, fraud
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • ACA/ACCA qualified. Practice experience viewed favourably
  • Experience working with a multi-faceted accounts team covering a fairly large business, c.£40m-300m (advantageous but not a requirement)
