UPON DETECTION OF A DEFECT:

The web is gently stopped
The web is locked in place in the area of the
cutting blades and ink jet heads
The defective product is moved out of the
accumulator unit and placed in front of the
operator by an electronic positioning system
On re-start the correction is inspected again

Once the accumulator is full the web begins to move again. A soft-start feature prevents cutting line offset at the rotary blades.

THE WEB ACCUMULATOR

The patented fully automatic web accumulator unit is a key element of the flytec 2000/ 3000 machine. it provides a buffer that has made it possible, for the first time ever, to combine all inspection , cutting numbering and finishing steps into one single operation. When the image processing system fleyeVision detects a defective label, the web is slowly decelerated to a complete stop. At this point the faulty label will be located either inside or still before the accumulator. As the machine moves the defect back to an operator-defined position, the storage unit is opened automatically.
The web remains immobilized in the area of the cutting blades and the inkjet heads, resulting in the benefits of
Zero cutting line offset
Undisrupted consecutive numbering
100% inspection labels on the finished roll

SPACE-SAVING WEB EDGE CONTROL FOR FORWARD AND REVERSE WINDING
The entire pay-off roll support is mounted in linear-motion guides for forward and reverse adjustment by a servodrive. The PC control system ensures the automatic activation of the appropriate web edge sensor. The result is a perfect wound roll, irrespective of whether the winder is operating in forward or reverse mode.

100% INSPECTION OF MULTIPLE LANE LABELS WITH FLEYEVISION
This system relies on a CCD linescan camera with a resolution of 2048 pixels, or, as alternative, an area camera with a resolution of
Our inspection machines flytec 2000 and flytec 3000 are the first to provide winding, 100% inspection, numbering, cutting and
finishing of multi-track label flows in one single operation. The integration of these multiple steps is achieved  through  the  use of a web accumulator system that separates the inspection and cutting functions. The PC-based machine control system is directly linked to the camera system.

Following the replacement of the defective label and its re-inspection by the image processing system, the web accumulator is filled again at a freely definable speed.

Shortly before its capacity is exhausted, the main machine drive is automatically activated and the web transport, cutting unit and numbering station are re-started. A soft-start feature prevents cutting line offset at the cutting blades.

OPERATION WITHOUT WEB ACCUMULATOR

Naturally, the machine can also be operated without the storage function whenever this appears desirable, e.g., to perform cutting, numbering and finishing function only. This mode facilitates the inspection of narrow pre-slit webs.

MAXIMUM PRECISION CUTTING

The entire cutting unit is mounted on a linear motion carriage and can be displaced by +/- 15mm in cross-web direction. Maximum precision cutting is achieved through a camera-based control system.

In this case the cutting unit is positioned on the label edge instead of the web edge. The cutting blade unit includes our new quick-change system for the blade shaft. Thanks to an offline adjustable box the blades can be aligned outside the machine which considerably reduces set-up times. The cutting blades unit can be replaced with a razor blade unit where appropriate.

up to 2300 x 1800 pixels. In fact, its resolution is freely configurable up to and including this level, with attendant benefits in terms of increased inspection speed. Actual image processing takes place in the associated computer. By using a double-camera system, it is possible to increase inspection accuracy.

In the same way, fleyeVision can be configured with two cameras for simultaneous inspection of the label top and underside. Once the machine has been powered up, reference images with printing tolerances are taught into the system. Irrelevant printface areas can be excluded from the inspection. At the same time, special inspection parameters may be defined for multiple areas. A 100% inspection of the printed output is launched with the start of the electronic controller. Further acceptable printface variations can still be taught into the system as the inspection proceeds.
THE SYSTEM PROVIDES FOLLOWING LOGGING FUNCTIONS:

The printed report comprises all changes made in the course of the job, the master image, selected camera setting, number of tolerated error, number of stops, and the inspected label count. All information is stored in a secure backup files, With our editor you can customize the report to your company's specific operating requirements.
CONSTANT WEB TENSION DURING WINDING
The inspection machine flytec 2000 / 3000 is driven by highly dynamic servomotors. The motor torque is continuously adapted to the current roll diameter. This ensures a homogeneous web tension over the entire roll diameter. All functions are fully integrated into the PC control system. The high-precision web tension control allows very loosely wound rolls to be produced.

MACHINE CONTOL VIA PC OR FUNCTION KEYS ACCORDING TO OPERATOR PREFERENCE
This refers basically to the following functions:
Speed
Web tension
Roll diameter based shutdown criteria
Counting function
Inside / outside winding
Statues message
Start / stop / rewinding direction
Web edge position control

All machine parameters can be adjusted through easy-to-navigate PC menus and are of course password-protected.

INKJET NUMBERING SYSTEM
The inkjet system is fully integrated with the flytec 2000 / 3000 inspection machine. After setting up the job the data for the inkjet printers can be entered through easy-to-use menus:

Number of label webs to be numbered
Start and end number of rolls
Count-up or count-down numbering
Font
Position of number on label

All entries are automatically saved for repeat jobs.

The numbering process includes the following features:
Positioning of first number on rewinder
Suppression of numbering for missing labels
Inkjet systems status messages
Comfortable data handling
Pulse inspection
Definition of leaders and trailers without label numbering
Readback and checking of numbers via optional fleyeVision
Security Control system

PROCESSING OF BOOKLET LABELS
Being equipped with large deflector rollers or optionally with an additional third web edge control system, the flytec 3000 is even capable of inspecting, cutting and numbering booklet labels.

For easily detachable booklet labels, which need to be processed without web accumulator, it may at most be necessary to separate the inspection operation from the cutting and numbering operation.
